Products Early Cancer Detection Test: DR-70 A simple blood test enables the measurement of multiple types of cancer with a high degree of sensitivity and specificity. The test is non-invasive, inexpensive and in clinical trials has shown to be able to detect at least 13 types of cancer. It helps physicians with early cancer detection and diagnosis. The test was developed by AMDL, a California biotechnology company and is for investigational use only. The DR-70® works on (FDP) fibrin degradation products. Fibrin is naturally occurring in the body, however, cancer cells "eat" fibrin and "spit out" a degraded fibrin. The DR-70® uses a proprietary antibody, which detects FDP. The overall specificity and sensitivity of the DR-70® in the latest clinical trials were 95% and 83.8%, respectively. Clinical trials in Canada, Taiwan, China, Chile and Turkey showed that the test detects cancers of the rectum, colon, breast, lungs, stomach, liver, ovaries, throat, cervix, womb, thyroid, pancreas and lymphatic system. The results, published in the respected medical publication, the Journal of Immunoasssay, showed that the test was more than 90% accurate for cancers of the stomach and lungs, and slightly less reliable for breast and rectum tumors. Early detection, diagnosis and treatment are crucial in fighting cancer. However, patients do not go to their doctors until symptoms appear and by that time the cancer has spread. Once cancers show clinical symptoms, it is often too late. Recovery depends a great deal on early detection. Furthermore, a test that enables doctors to detect cancers early and then track the progress of their treatment more closely is an extremely valuable tool. The test could have dramatic impact on the death rates for bowel cancer and breast cancer. Late diagnosis of either of these, dramatically cuts the chances of survival for the sufferer. Another obstacle to early diagnosis is that the standard tests are usually ordered to detect a specific cancer, such as breast cancer. However, if the real culprit is ovarian or colon cancer, it won’t be picked up by the breast cancer test. The DR-70® is a reliable method of looking for various cancers in the very early stages so that treatment could be more effective. The patient can then do further tests, to see exactly which cancer or cancers they have.. |
